My Financial Life 1.0.0 is free software. There is nothing to buy, no licence key, and no end-user agreement to accept — the GNU General Public License v3 is the licence.
1. The licence
My Financial Life is released under the GNU General Public License v3 (GPL-3.0). You can use it, study it, share it and change it. If you distribute it, or a modified version, you must pass on the same freedoms and make your source available under the same licence.
The full licence text governs; the paragraph above is a plain-language summary, not a substitute for it. The complete source is on GitHub, and the binaries offered here are built from it by public CI.
2. No warranty
As the licence says, in capitals and at length: the program comes with absolutely no warranty. It is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. The entire risk as to the quality and performance of the program is with you, and no copyright holder or contributor is liable for damages arising from its use — including loss of data or inaccuracies in what it displays.
Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
3. Not financial advice
My Financial Life is a tool for recording and viewing your own finances. It does not provide financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and nothing it displays — including returns, projections, budgets and amortisation schedules — should be relied on as such. The figures it shows are derived from what you enter and from optional third-party price and rate data. Check anything that matters, and take professional advice for decisions that warrant it.
4. Name, logo and this website
The licence covers the software. The names My Financial Life, My Retirement Life and Garelochsoft, together with the app icons and the Garelochsoft logo, are not part of that grant — please don’t use them in a way that suggests a modified build is the official one. Rename your fork; that’s all we ask.
The content of this website (copy, screenshots and design) is © Garelochsoft Ltd. The screenshots show a fictional dataset — no real person’s finances appear anywhere on this site.
5. Downloads
Downloads are hosted on GitHub Releases and their SHA-256 checksums are published on the download page. The packages are unsigned. Verify what you download, and prefer these links or the GitHub releases page over a third-party mirror.
6. Governing law
Garelochsoft Ltd is a Scottish company, and these terms are governed by the law of Scotland. [Registered company details to be added once the entity is formed.]
